ALPHTN - On Demand: February 4, 2015

Program faculty will provide information to educate case management staff on using the best practices for accurate and timely coding of their time and activities. This program is required for all Alabama Department of Public Health case management staff who code any of their time in the SSR system

ALPHTN - On Demand March 11, 2015

This program, "Treating the Tobacco Dependent Patient: Interventions That Work", discusses how tobacco use is the leading cause of preventable death in the United States. Evidence-based, brief interventions exist to help tobacco users quit and research indicates they are more likely to do so when their healthcare provider recommends it. Program faculty discuss these evidence-based brief interventions and resources including the Alabama Tobacco Quitline, Plan First and Medicaid cessation benefits, to help patients quit tobacco.

ALPHTN - On Demand March 19, 2015

This program, "Ebola Monitoring and Contact Tracing Training", discusses how the 2014 Ebola epidemic is the largest in history, affecting multiple countries in West Africa and the United States. CDC is taking precautions to prevent additional Ebola cases in the United States by assessing travelers coming from countries with cases of Ebola. The ADPH Bureau of Communicable Disease is responsible for monitoring travelers arriving in Alabama and conducting contact tracing if the traveler becomes symptomatic. Program faculty will detail the process for field staff to complete Ebola monitoring and contact tracing.


ALPHTN - On Demand March 30, 2015

This program, "De-escalating Consumer Behaviors in Traditional and Nontraditional Health Care Settings", trains service providers on how to de-escalate patients and clients with disruptive behaviors. Program faculty discuss how to reach successful outcomes when dealing with the different types of behaviors that require de-escalation in clinics, social service agencies and disaster settings.

In this program, faculty will educate health providers on sleep deprivation in teens, the physiology of teen sleep, and how to advocate for improved sleep health in teenagers across the country.
