Seventh Annual Women's Health Update 

The Office of Women's Health Seventh Annual Women's Health Update will be held Friday, August 1, 2014, at the St. Vincent's Health System Bruno Conference Center in Birmingham, Alabama. This year’s theme is New Horizons in Women's Health: An Interprofessional Conference for Best Practices Across the Life Course. This event is a continuing education offering for registered nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, social workers, dietitians, and other health care providers.


The purpose of the conference is to disseminate scholarly work that is aimed at improving the health status of all women. Topics included cardiovascular health, weight management, nutrition, complementary and alternative medicine, preconception care, mental health issues, community involvement, and health policy. The conference provides a venue for scholars from various disciplines to share their latest projects and research findings with colleagues.

Continuing Education Credits

The Office of Women's Health Seventh Annual Women's Health Update has been approved for the following continuing education credits:

  • Nursing - 8.9 Contact Hours, 1.2 Pharmacology Contact Hours (ABN)
  • Pharmacy - 5.0 Contact Hours (0.5 CEUs) (ACPE)
  • Social Work - 5.0 Contact Hours (ABSWE)
  • Dietetics – Hours Pending


 Co-sponsorship for the Seventh Annual Women's Health Update Conference pharmacy continuing education credits has been provided by the Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy. The Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.
