Annual Women's Health 5K Run and One-Mile Mother-Daughter Walk
The Annual Women's Health 5K Run and 1 Mile Mother-Daughter Walk "Women on the Move to Improve Women's Health," sponsored by the Office of Women’s Health Advisory Committee in partnership with Baptist Health, will be held Saturday, May 11, 2013, in Montgomery, Alabama; and, in partnership with the St. Vincent's Health System, on Saturday May 18, 2013, in Homewood, Alabama. These events are designed to empower women to make their health a top priority, increase the awareness of women’s health issues and highlight resources that are available for health and wellness for women in the state of Alabama. A portion of the proceeds from this event will be used to sponsor selected girls participation in the 2013 Fall Girls on the Run Program. Many families attended as well as individual walkers and runners to support the health of women across Alabama.

The Couch-to-5K Running plan provides tips on how to prepare for a 5K Run. Follow the Couch-to-5K running plan to go from couch to your very first 5K. Follow this beginner training schedule and sign up for one of the following 5K races.
The 2012 sponsors for the Women's Health 5K Run and 1 Mile Mother Daughter Walk included the Office of Women's Health of the Alabama Department of Public Health, St. Vincent Health System, the City of Homewood along with, ABC/3340 News Team, Drummond Co. , Inc., Taylor Linen Services, Andalusia Regional Hospital, Alabama Power, University of Alabama Birmingham School of Public Health, Baptist Health System, Black Girls Run, Morrison, Samford University, Gold's Gym, Alabama Governor's Commission on Physical Fitness, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama, USA School of Nursing, and the St. Vincent One Nineteen Wellness Center.
