Crisis Communication: Understanding and Communicating with an Evolving Audience
The Alabama Department of Public Health would like to thank the Alabama Department of Mental Health and the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services for their assistance with this training.
April 2012
For response agencies, communicating with at-risk populations during an emergency, including those living with hearing, visual, and mental issues, as well as those who are non-English speaking can be challenging and sometimes unsuccessful. Program faculty will discuss effective ways to communicate with at-risk individuals. They will also discuss new media that can help responders' messages have a broader and more sustaining reach.
